When will Cursor support ChatGPT/Codex subscriptions?

I’m still on a legacy pricing plan, so I’m not allowed to use anything newer than GPT-5.3 Codex or Opus 4.6.

I’ve started paying for ChatGPT/Codex, and I would be perfectly content to continue paying Cursor $20/month to use it as my IDE and AI harness if they would let me use my Codex subscription for access to GPT-5.5. That would keep me as a Cursor customer, and I would then not be costing them much.

So will this ever be supported in Cursor?

You can try “Ungate” extension for Cursor. It lets use your ChatGPT subscription in Cursor.

I think there is this thing called ACP, and you can kinda connect to your existing CLI tools like Codex and Claude code. Editors like the Zed Editor have it(not based on VS Code, though). But I am not sure this makes sense for Cursor or will ever be used since their whole selling point is their better agent harness… If you used your codex and Claude code CLI, you would use their harness.
