Cursor Web
Describe the request
The cloud agent settings on the web allows customizing the branch prefix that the Cursor agent sets on new git branches. However, there’s no way of completely disabling the branch prefix.
This leads to cursor agents not following branch naming rules that others (humans, other AI:s) adhere to.
Options tried & failed:
- Leave prefix field empty - doesn’t work, defaults to “cursor/”
- Clear rules in AGENTS.md stating that there should not be any prefix on branches – doesn’t work, the setting seems to override the AGENTS.md instructions
- Asking the agent in chat to rename the branch correctly – I tried that once, it took 4-5 tries until it actually eventually created the right branch. But this is not a viable alternative.
