Allow using Other Models allowance for Cursor Models (Grok / Composer)

Describe the request

Hi Cursor team,

I’m on Cursor Pro and I use Grok 4.6 and Composer as my primary models in the editor. I rarely use third-party models (Claude, GPT, Gemini), but my plan splits usage into two separate monthly pools:

Cursor Models (Grok, Composer)
Other Models (third-party APIs)
In practice, I often hit my Cursor Models limit while a large portion of my Other Models allowance stays unused. That feels inefficient for users who intentionally prefer Cursor/xAI models over third-party ones.

Feature request: Please allow one of the following:

Unified usage pool — one monthly allowance usable across all models, or
Cross-pool usage — let unused Other Models balance apply to Cursor Models (Grok / Composer), or
User-configurable allocation — let me assign more of my included usage to Cursor Models at plan setup or in settings.
Why this helps:

Encourages use of Cursor-native models (Grok, Composer), which you likely optimize for cost and integration
Reduces frustration for users who don’t want third-party models but still pay for that included usage
Makes Pro/Pro+ feel fairer when model preference is skewed toward Grok/Composer
My usage pattern:

Primary: Grok 4.6, Composer 2.5 in Agent/Chat
Rarely: Claude, GPT, etc.
I’d like my unused Other Models quota to effectively become more Grok/Composer capacity
Thanks for considering this. Happy to share usage dashboard screenshots if helpful.

Hey, thanks for the detailed feature request. Good news, on Pro it already partly works the way you want.

When the included usage in the Cursor Models pool runs out, Grok and Composer will automatically continue using your remaining Other Models allowance, and only after that switch to on-demand. So any unused Other Models allowance is already being used by Grok and Composer, no extra setting needed.

What we don’t have yet is a fully unified pool and a manual way to control how usage is split between pools. I’ll pass both points to the team as feedback.

If you’re seeing Grok or Composer get blocked or charged on-demand while there’s still allowance left in Other Models, that’s a separate issue. Please share screenshots of the usage dashboard and roughly when it happened, and we’ll take a closer look.
