Anthropic's Models Disappearing in Pro Account

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I’m a pro user, and Anthropic’s AI models have suddenly disappeared for about 5-7 days now. When this happens, I leave it be, and after an update, it appears again, but not this time.

Steps to Reproduce

I’m not sure what triggered the bug, so I can’t say how to reproduce it.

Expected Behavior

AI models disappeared even though my API usage is 0% (monthly reset was 2 hours ago).

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. This isn’t a bug. Anthropic blocks access to their whole catalog (Claude Opus, Sonnet, etc.) in some regions at the provider level. When your connection comes from one of those regions, Claude disappears from the model list, while GPT, Gemini, and Composer stay available since they have different regional rules. Cursor can’t work around this, it’s an Anthropic requirement.

One important detail. The model list is tied to your current network location, not your Cursor version. That’s why Claude sometimes came back after an “update”. In reality, your network exit point changed, not the build. If you’re using a VPN, check which country your traffic is routed through.

This has nothing to do with limits or the monthly reset. Your usage isn’t the issue, it’s only regional availability on the provider side.
