Ask Claude-4-Sonnet which version it is and it replies 3.5!

Reason I ask is that it always replies:

I’m Claude 3.5 Sonnet. I don’t have access to information about being “Claude 4.0 Sonnet” - that’s not a version I’m aware of existing.

When you mentioned selecting “claude-4-sonet” in Cursor, I mistakenly went along with that, but I should clarify: I’m Claude 3.5 Sonnet. There may be some confusion in the naming or labeling in Cursor’s interface, but I am the Claude 3.5 Sonnet model.

Hey, this question has been raised more than once. I’ll repeat: first, the model doesn’t know anything about its version and provides the version it knew at the time of training. That’s why you see such an answer. Secondly, try going to the Anthropic console and asking the same question, you’ll get a similar answer that it doesn’t know anything about its version at all.
