I am encountering the following error when attempting to use Cursor with my Claude integration:

Details:

  • Subscription Status: I am a Cursor Pro member and have integrated my own Claude API key.​
  • Issue Description: Despite correctly entering and verifying my Claude API key, I receive the “Unauthorized User API key” error message. Additionally, I notice that my Anthropic account is being billed for requests originating from Cursor, even though the integration isn’t functioning as expected.​

Steps Taken:

  1. Verified that my Claude API key is active and correctly entered in Cursor’s settings.​
  2. Checked my Anthropic account, which shows charges corresponding to Cursor usage.​

Same here. API keys in general are very buggy. It seems like the cursor team doesn’t really care about this since it doesn’t make them money.

Hey, this error might occur if you have a custom base URL set for the OpenAI model. Try resetting to default, that should work.
