Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?
Somewhere else…
Describe the Bug
I am a UK university student trying to sign up for Cursor using my University of Nottingham email address ([email protected]) so that I can access the one free year of Cursor Pro for students.
When I try to log in via authenticator.cursor.sh with this email (either using a password or “continue with email code”), the login page immediately shows the red message:
“Authentification bloquée, veuillez contacter votre administrateur.”
Authentication appears to be blocked for my account/email at your identity provider level, so I cannot complete login at all and therefore cannot verify my student status or redeem the student Pro offer.
Steps to Reproduce
Go to https://authenticator.cursor.sh on mobile or desktop.
2. Enter email: [email protected].
3. Click either “Continue with email code” or enter a password and click “Continue”.
4. Observe that instead of proceeding to send a code or log in, the page displays the error “Authentification bloquée, veuillez contacter votre administrateur” and blocks the authentication attempt.
Expected Behavior
I expect to be able to authenticate with my university email address, receive a login code or successfully sign in, and then use that account to verify my student status so I can activate the free one‑year Cursor Pro student plan as a UK student.
In other words, authentication for @nottingham.ac.uk should not be blocked so that UK students can also benefit from the advertised student Pro access.
Operating System
Windows 10/11
Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)
I cannot provide a version number because I have never been able to log in or install Cursor on Windows with my University of Nottingham student email account ([email protected]). The authentication block happens on the login page (authenticator service) for this student email, before the app is used, which also prevents me from accessing the advertised one free year of Cursor Pro for students.
For AI issues: which model did you use?
Not applicable – this bug occurs before I can access any models, as authentication is blocked.
Does this stop you from using Cursor
Yes - Cursor is unusable
