Student Verification is Not Working for UK University Email

I had created a personal account to try cursor and after that I tried to get a student account but when I try to verify my student email it says “the email needs to be .edu account” but in UK university the email ends with .ac.uk instead of .edu, I tired to email the support team on [email protected] email and they said to email them thought university email so I did exactly that but even then they said to sent an email from university email.

I don’t know what to do and how to get the student account, my friend on the other hand was able to get a student account using his email account (we both are in same Ulster university.) can someone please help?

this happened to me as well. first log in using a non-edu email address. Then, go to Cursor for Students | Cursor - The AI Code Editor this will redirect you to SheerID for verification.

I’ve tried this, and at the start it did ask for university email as well and I’ve also received a verification link as well, and a email saying my email has been verified but when I check my account it just says free plan, is there anything else I need to do, like contact them or something?

Same boat. UK is on their list of acceptable universities. Go via Sheer and it says I am not authorised to access the page.

Email [email protected] from my uni email and get:

In order to support your Student discount request you must write in from the student email you are trying to verify. This email must be a ‘.edu’ address. Please send a new request from that email to receive support.

Clearly automated and not replied to my 2nd email back.

I’m having the same problem too

@curse is there any solution for this? or any way we can verify our student account?

Whats worse, is that they haven’t even responded all week.

Hi @codeninja0x01 ,
When was it that you tried this? Because I personally followed your instruction, but I was never redirected to sheerID. I only get the “you don’t have a .edu email” error prompt.

Same here: getting the same error and got the same email when I contacted support. It is probably the case they have forgotten that not all students have a .edu email
Hopefully, the human support will take over the AI support regarding this!
