Auto Mode Issues with Edit Tool

We meet this anoying issue in auto mode too recently. It just looks like cursor can not longer work as well as before.

@kikimo Could you post a Request ID with privacy disabled so we can look into the details? https://docs.cursor.com/troubleshooting/request-reporting

We have made further improvements on Auto so this should be less often happening.
As it still affects your usage we may need additional details like the Request ID and which Cursor version you are using, since that also affects how models access tools.

It’s very very frustrating, it just tell me that the edit_file tool lis unavailable so it cannot edit the file directly. Have you just disabled it in auto mode?

Edit File tool is still available but we need to check the issue more detailed so we can identify and fix it.

It doesn’t work in auto mode, but works well in other model like gpt-5 or claude sonnet.
