Feature request for product/service
Cursor IDE
Describe the request
Problem:
I have my own AWS API key configured in Cursor to access models like Claude Opus via Bedrock. I also have a Cursor subscription that gives me access to plan-included models like Composer 2.
Currently, if I want to switch between an API-key-powered model (e.g., Opus via AWS) and a Cursor-plan model (e.g., Composer 2), I have to manually go into Settings > Models and disable/re-enable my API key each time.
Proposed Solution:
When selecting a model from the agent/model picker, Cursor should automatically determine the correct routing:
If the selected model is available through my configured API key (e.g., AWS Bedrock), route through the API key.
If the selected model is part of my Cursor plan (e.g., Composer 2), route through Cursor’s built-in billing
Both options should coexist seamlessly — no need to toggle anything in Settings.
Current Workaround:
Manually navigating to Settings and toggling the API key on/off every time I want to switch between API-key models and plan models.
