I don’t know why, but after an update, it stopped opening the files it was working on automatically. Who was the genius in the community who asked for this nonsense? Now I have to keep opening file after file to monitor what the AI is doing and check for errors. How do I get this working again?
Steps to Reproduce
Just ask the AI to do something that doesn’t open the files it’s working on.
Expected Behavior
I would like this to come back, it’s very useful for me to see the files open and her working.
Operating System
Windows 10/11
Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)
Hey, unfortunately, files no longer open automatically. However, once the agent finishes its work, you’ll see a “Review Changes” button. By clicking it, you’ll see which files were changed. I hope this helps you.
This makes it difficult to reason about changes, queue up files for review, and ensure that all changes are reviewed prior to committing. ‘Auto-open changed files’ should at least be a user-configurable setting, even if the overlords have determined that is not the correct default behavior.
That review changeset is a very limited summary and doesn’t help reflect the larger context of the files without opening them to show you the bigger picture as well as be more easily scrollable for other changes to see. This breaks the IDE functionality and simply becomes a CLI. If I wanted a CLI I’d simply use ClaudeCode.
