BLANK entries in "Models" section of Cursor Settings in IDE

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Cursor creates BLANK entries in the “Models” section of Cursor Settings. See screen-grab. I enter AWS API credentials and after hitting the “refresh” button, I get all these BLANK entries. If I use the drop-down list in a Cursor “Ask”/chat thread, then the correct model names are displayed, it’s just the “Models” page/section of the Cursor Settings that displays these BLANK entries, which makes it realy hard to navigate when your also adding custom endpoints as well; which also show as BLANK.

Steps to Reproduce

Try and use the Cursor “Models” page of its settings with AWS API credentials enabled.

Expected Behavior

No BLANK entries.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey @mjnowen!

This looks a lot like:

Can you confirm if you’re using a non-US Bedrock region?

Yup, that looks exactly like the bug I am seeing on my side. I tried using an EU based AWS region first before switching to us-east-1 for Fable-5 (global/US only) and now, even if I switch AWS API credentials around (between EU and US AWS regions), I am unable to now remove these BLANK (corrupted?) entries.

These models should still be selectable from the model picker, but you won’t be able to remove them from the list of models in Cursor Settings > Models. You can toggle them off, however, if you need.

v3.12.29 - v3.12.30 - there is something very strange going on with model selection in Cursor in the last 24-48hrs. I can enable or disable my AWS API key, switch between AWS regions and retrieve a list from Bedrock in the model list of “us." or "eu.” models, but the latest such as Fable-5 or Opus-4-7 or 4-8 are no longer listed in the model picker in the Cursor chat window. There seems to be a lot of weird bugs that have been introduced very recently by Cursor in this area. This issue is in addition to the BLANK entries that I am also suffering as per this thread above.

UPDATE: ok, so there is a behaviour change in Cursor and now when you select a third-party delivered model such as from AWS Bedrock via your API key, the model picker in Cursor essentially renames.

So select the model: “us.anthropic.claude-opus-4-8” in the model list and it becomes in the mode picker: “Opus 4.8 300K” or “Opus 4.8 1M” depending on the “Edit” sub-menu within model picker. How confusing.

Either way, “us.anthropic.claude-fables-5” or “global.anthropic.claude-fable-5” endpoints are missing from AWS bedrock returned model list by Cursor for an unknown reason:

Some changes have been pushed to improve the model ID handling for Bedrock models, and to ensure that users can still select a larger context window even after the removal of Max Mode!

We’re getting these added (along with Sonnet 5). You should, in the meantime, be able to add the model ID yourself!
