Summary

Please make Cursor Router available to Individual plans (Pro / Pro+ / Ultra), not only Business / Enterprise plans.

Why?

Many individual developers and small teams pay for Cursor personally because it is our daily IDE. Router is one of the most exciting recent features: it can classify tasks and automatically choose the most suitable model, which should improve quality, speed, and cost efficiency.

Right now, as an Individual plan user, I can read about Router but cannot use or configure it. This makes the paid individual plans feel incomplete compared with the advertised direction of Cursor.

Requested behavior

  • Enable Router for Individual plans (at least Pro / Pro+ / Ultra).
  • If model routing has infrastructure cost differences, consider a quota, fair-use cap, or higher-tier-only subset rather than excluding individuals entirely.
  • Provide clear documentation on which plans support Router and how routing decisions are made.

Use case

As an individual developer using Cursor for production work, I want Router to decide when to use a fast model for simple edits and a stronger model for complex reasoning, so I get better results without manually switching models for every request.

Hey, thanks for the feature request and for describing your use case in so much detail.

Right now, Cursor Router is available on the Teams and Enterprise plans. Expanding it to Individual plans Pro, Pro+, and Ultra is something the team is currently evaluating. There are some pricing and usage differences that need to be worked out before it can be enabled. I can’t share a specific timeline yet.

For now, Auto on Individual plans will still pick a model for each request at a fixed price. So you still get basic automatic model selection, just without the Intelligence, Balance, and Cost settings you get in Router.

I’ll keep this thread open, and if there’s any news about Router availability on Individual plans, I’ll post an update here.

To pay $200/month on the Ultra plan, and not have access to Cursor Router, is more than a bit frustrating!
