I would like to exclude certain models from auto router for my team (or at least individually). I really enjoy using Cursor Auto Router, and I think it does a great job. However, some models are simply too expensive and eat up too much of my quota. I would like to disable some of these really expensive models, but only for router such as Opus 5 or GPT 5.6 Sol. I may still choose to use them independently, which is why I don’t wanna disable it for the whole workspace, but I don’t want Cursor Auto Router to pick those models.

Which “Auto” mode are you using? I’d be surprised if Cost or Balanced selected Opus 5 or 5.6 Sol.

If you’re optimizing for intelligence, though, that mode is specifically designed to select frontier models.

I’m always on balance and it very consistently picks Opus 5 for hard problems. I agree, it would be what I want for intelligence, but not for balance, at the very least not so regularly.

I’m curious, in this case, why you don’t keep Grok 4.6 selected rather than use Auto, if you never want tasks routed to Opus or Sol?

I might do that in the interim, but it’s not that I want no intelligent models. It’s just Opus 5 specifically is way too expensive. I don’t mind when it occasionally picks Opus 4.8 or Sol, but it just leans in too hard into it
