Describe the Bug
Hi Cursor Team,
I am reporting a technical issue regarding the student verification process on the /students page and the automated support system.
-
The Issue While the .ac.kr domain is generally supported for South Korean universities, the current frontend filter on the verification page does not recognize the snu.ac.kr (Seoul National University) subdomain. This prevents students from reaching the SheerID verification step.
-
Automated Support Failure When attempting to contact support from an official snu.ac.kr account to request manual verification, the AI Support Assistant (Sam) provides a canned response stating that only .edu addresses are supported.
-
Technical & Contextual Facts
Domain Standard: In South Korea, .ac.kr is the official and only standard for accredited higher education institutions, equivalent to .edu in the US.
Subdomain Logic: snu.ac.kr is the specific domain for Seoul National University. The current filter seems to lack a wildcard or recursive match for .ac.kr subdomains.
Existing Verification: I am already a verified student through the GitHub Student Developer Pack, which confirms that this domain is globally recognized as a valid educational address.
- Requested Action
Please update the frontend email filter to include snu.ac.kr.
Please adjust the AI Support Assistant’s logic to recognize international educational domains beyond .edu.
I would appreciate a manual review of my status so I can access the Student Pro plan.
Thank you for your assistance in making Cursor more accessible to international students.
Steps to Reproduce
Visit student varification
Log in with a snu.ac.kr sub domain account.
Attempt to click “Verify Status” or enter the email.
Observe that the system blocks the submission due to the domain format.
