Can I connect Cursor IDE to my (pro) personal ChatGPT account via MCP?

I’m exploring Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations with Cursor IDE and wondering if it’s possible to connect Cursor directly to my personal ChatGPT (OpenAI) account.

Does Cursor currently support this, or is there a recommended way to achieve such integration, perhaps by creating a custom MCP server using the OpenAI API? Any tips or resources on how best to do this would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have considered stop using Cursor because of this because I already have ChatGPT pro.

If you already have OpenAI API access, you can just use your API key for those models, no MCP needed. Pro doesn’t come with API keys by default, which would be required even if you were using MCP to connect to some OpenAI server, so you’d be paying for API keys regardless.

ChatGPT pro and Cursor (while both using LLMs under the hood) are two different types of products.
