Describe the Bug
I’m using Cursor IDE v1.2.2 with the Gemini-2.5-pro MAX model (which should support up to 1 million tokens). When I try to paste and send a chat message containing ~65,000 tokens, I get a “Your message is too long” error.
The same input works perfectly in Google’s AI Studio, so this appears to be an artificial limit in Cursor, not a model limitation. Please clarify if there’s a setting or workaround, or increase the allowed message size to match the model’s capabilities.
Steps to Reproduce
Use Cursor IDE v1.2.2
Set the chat model to Gemini-2.5-pro MAX
Paste a message with ~65k tokens
Try to send – observe the error
Expected Behavior
Messages up to 1 million tokens should be accepted (as supported by the model).
Operating System
Windows 10/11
Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)
