Cannot switch to Editor view in Cursor

I cannot change this to the Editor view; it has been broken for days now.

Using:

Version: 3.1.17

I have already moved to VSCode and decided to give Cursor a try after a couple of weeks (just cause I have the annual plan :smiling_face_with_tear:), and it’s still bad!

Hey @Anand_Kamble!

You should be able to switch to the classic editor by just opening File > Open Editor Window or running Shift + Cmd + N.

is there a way to make this default, i dont want to do this every time i open the app

I am also quite shocked that without any warning after installing an update in Curser the chatbox seems to be the default now. I need the editor view to be the default. The chatbox is taking away all my agency over the code. Can we please go back to the editor being the default? Why would I otherwise use Curser? This is the main feature.

To answer the question about making the Editor the default, version 3.3.30 (rolling out now) adds a new “Open Agents Window on startup” toggle in Cursor Settings > Agents. Turn it off and Cursor will open in the Editor by default.

To get the update: Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+P > Attempt Update, then restart Cursor.

If you don’t see the toggle after updating, the shortcuts from Colin’s earlier reply still work: Shift+Cmd+N or File > Open Editor Window. The update is rolling out gradually, so it may take a bit to reach everyone.
