Chat re-summarization not working

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

When I restart the chat summary, the process freezes indefinitely. When I stop the summary manually, the system says that everything went well, but in fact the chat has not been summarized.

By the way, when the limit was exceeded, summarization did not occur automatically.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Summarize the chat
  • After a while, summarize it again.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. It looks like this needs investigation from the engineering team.

Please provide the following to help with debugging:

  • Request ID: in the chat where re-summarization froze, open the menu (top right) → Copy Request ID
  • Console errors: open Developer Tools (Cmd+Shift+P → “Developer: Toggle Developer Tools”), check the Console tab during the freeze, and share any errors
  • Does this happen with all chats or only specific ones?

Once you provide this info, I’ll escalate it to the team for investigation.
