Describe the Bug

Chat getting stuck at generating the response, tried uninstall and install not working, changed network not worked,
attached the network diagnostic screenshot
it is getting failed in chat and agent

Cursor – Troubleshooting Guide

Hey, this issue could be related to a large chat history in your project, which is why everything works fine in another project. To solve the problem, try manually deleting most of the history. You can also try renaming or moving the project. This will help you quickly clear the history.

Additionally, you can delete the history by navigating to:

Windows: %APPDATA%\Cursor\User\workspaceStorage
macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Cursor/User/workspaceStorage
Linux: ~/.config/Cursor/User/workspaceStorage

If your history is important to you, you can try exporting it using this extension:

Hey @girel_girel. Looks like you’re using a network proxy which is blocking these requests.

Changing your HTTP compatibility mode to HTTP/1 might unblock you here as a workaround. Otherwise you’ll need to disable that proxy or reach out to your IT/networking team to allow Cursor’s domains here:

tried restarting wifi router (btw i am using home network in which i haven’t change anything it just cursor stopped working )

Update

now diagnostics are fine but but still stuck in generating

I had to switch my HTTP compatibility mode from HTTP/1.1 to HTTP/1.0 and it worked right away.

Mine i turned on the background agents

having the same issue since several days ago. Tried HTTP1.1, 1.0, restarted machine, restarted cursor, switched between auto and model. Nothing works. But I am only experiencing this on my Mac M4, not on my Windows laptop. Yes I am using VPN, but I can browse all other sites fine and the diagnostics also works fine. This is really frustrating!!!

Finally got it working after deleting all chat history.
