Clarity of New Pro Pricing

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to get some clarification on the new Pro Plan pricing. I’ve actually hit the rate limit already and am currently relying on Auto mode.

I saw it’s possible to switch back to the legacy mode (which offers 500 requests per month and slower performance if exceeded). My question is, could I switch to legacy mode at the beginning of my subscription cycle to utilize those 500 guaranteed requests, and then switch back to the new unlimited mode once they’re exhausted?

Essentially, I’m wondering if I can front-load my most important tasks in each refresh cycle with those guaranteed 500 requests, and then transition to the unlimited plan afterward. This would really help me monitor and prioritize my tasks more effectively.

Thanks in advance for your help!

legacy mode had 4 sonnet restricted after 500 requests. so if you go back, it’s worse IMHO. Just use a combination of tools. I go on auto for minor lazy tasks that I don’t want to do manually and use better models for debugging or new feature planning, I also combine that with gemini CLI as an second opinion on the approach I’m moving with.
