Claude is Unable to See Code Pasted in AI Chat (0.44.11)

When I copy/paste code from my Jupyter notebook into the chat window, Claude will reply:

“Could you please share the ___ code so I can help diagnose and fix the issue? Without seeing the current implementation, it’s difficult to identify exactly what might be causing the __ error.”

or:

“I don’t see the ___ code you’re trying to share. Could you paste it again?”

I can also click the “+” symbol and add the entire file and it’s still not accessible to the AI. Any help would be appreciated here as cursor is essentially unusable at this point.

Yes, I tried creating a new session and still experience this same issue.

hey, happy to dig into this! could you please share a request id? note that privacy mode has to be disabled in settings > general before generating

  1. press Cmd+Shift+P (Mac) / Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows)
  2. type “Report AI Action”
  3. select the failed one
  4. select “Copy Request ID”

(Note: This is an intermittent issue. Cursor will work fine for a few hours and then it suddenly loses the ability to see the code I’m sharing)

Do you have privacy mode on? I can’t read these req-ids. If you are able to turn off privacy mode, make a new request in that thread that fails, and then send me it it would be really helpful

I just disabled privacy mode and will circle back the next time it happens.

This keeps happening to me too and I’d really appreciate support; I’ve disabled privacy mode and here’s a request ID from my current chat which has done this several times:

@Sonified we did identify and fix an issue with context disappearing and not being able to be re-added, i think you might be having a different issue, will DM to debug

This should be fixed in the latest version - let me know if you’re still seeing any issues with Claude not being able to see your code
