Cloud Agents regularly fail to update

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Cursor cloud agents fail to update with their progress. When it does update, you often get this weird update behavior where the chat scrolls back to the beginning and dramatically re-loads the agent history in a weird scrolling-chat way.

Steps to Reproduce

Start a cloud agent, close program, open again and click that agent, and it will often show blank as though nothing has happened. Viewing the same agent in the web UI shows its actual progress.

Expected Behavior

Cloud agents should be smoothly and instantly updated in the Cursor IDE at all times.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Hey, thanks for the report. The sync issue between the web UI and IDE shouldn’t happen, and the scroll/reload behavior sounds buggy.

Please share diagnostics:

  • Network diagnostics: Cursor Settings > Network > Run Diagnostics — send a screenshot of the results
  • Console errors: when the agent is blank, open Help > Toggle Developer Tools and check for errors
  • Are you using a VPN or a corporate network?
  • Does logging out and back in (Cursor Settings) help temporarily?

Once we have the diagnostics, I’ll pass this to the team to investigate the sync mechanism.

I am having the same issue. I had it today on a cloud task that i started 5 days ago. I opened the cloud task and the task started very slowly thinking and updating. I think it was all there completed, as the count of lines changed remained the same. But I had to wait around 5 minutes to get the chat summary.
