Composer does nothing

Newest available cursor version, Windows 11. Composer in docked panel mode. (I noticed that the floating/panel toggle setting has an issue too – change it to panel and it still says floating, even though it does put it in the panel)

Attempted with 4o and 3.5 Sonnet. Same issue both ways. Composer thinks for a bit then says it’s completed its task, but it did nothing.

Finally, a question: I’m assuming “Always keep in bound” means disallowing composer from editing unspecified files or creating new ones?

Update: putting composer back into floating mode seems to have fixed the issue where it wasn’t doing anything. Guess panel mode is just broken at the moment?

One more note/request: If the floating composer has multiple tabs open, enough to fill the width of the tab bar at the top, it becomes very difficult to move. Have to hunt for just the right few pixels for the standard cursor.

Glad floating mode is working, will take a look into the panel mode bug!

Does floating work for the same exact query on the same files?

All I did was literally toggle back from panel to floating, and the prompt I had attempted in panel mode began to work.

I am having the same issue. You can see in the screenshot that it has not modified any files but it has 'completed. Have tried both floating and control panel - same thing.

This is in my console log (not sure if related)

none of the logs in C:\Users<your-user-name>\AppData\Roaming\Cursor\logs
have any errors from the time that I was experiencing this issue with composer.

I just found this in terminal > output > window:

The errors are from around the time that I experienced the issue with composer.

Also, happened while I was using my own API key. I have just tried to not user my own api key and it worked.

Yes, the composer is only available with a pro subscription.

Right, I do have pro, but I also like using my own API key because of the request limits. Is there a way where I can use composer using my own API key?

At the moment, you need to disable the API each time you use the Composer.

Yep, thank you

We should definitely add an error message or notice for this. It’s very confusing. Thank you for the report!
