Anyone else has this constant thing where occasionally composer refuses to directly edit the code and instead constant types the code in chat window. Even when you keep telling it to edit the files it completely ignores really annoying .
Hey, see my comment here regarding Composer’s file edit limitations:
Hi there . Im using claude sonnet 3.5. I have a notepad and files i have added using the + sign. My notepad contains details about the project and some rules . For the most part it works , then after a while it stops editing the files and start outputting the code in chat window. Sometimes if i tell it in chat to directly edit the files it does. Sometimes it just wont and i have to close the editor and start from scratch by resetting composer meaning i lose the entire progress.
hi, does this happen after a long conversation? it seems like claude is forgetting to attach file path on your codeblocks, and so they’re not being applied automatically. if this happens, you can still manually apply it by clicking the top right apply button and selecting the file you want it to be applied on.
Hi thanks for the update. No not long code blocks that the thing. However, I do have multiple composers on the side, about 5 at the moment each with branch offs on the code. Also forgot to add that when I use composer, I use open in new window option and use it on a new monitor.
though I will add it too not sure if it’s a bug. sometimes when I press to mount back to window, I get
hi, the window mode for composer is still in beta so there are a few bugs with it, we will get them fixed by next release
Many thanks for the replies. You guys are doing a wonderful job i had like to add. I took on your suggestion as a temporary work around , where if composer misses editing the code, i use Apply instead . Not ideal but i completely missed that before and it does the job for anyone that runs into similar issues.
