I’m fairly new to this software so maybe I’m missing something here but, I ask composer to make updates to a file and it either asks me to it manually(even after asking for it to it multiple times) or when it will do it, it deletes a substantial amount of code in the file, replacing all the code.
Is there something I’m missing here? is this a bug or am I doing something wrong here?
Thanks
I have the same issue sometimes with ctrl+k and I’ve seen a few posts about the same issue as well
I think something changed yesterday; I have had a few responses that have told me how to update my code without Composer actually updating the code for me.
It’s better for me today, but Composer is adding advice about how to remove linter errors from my code in around 75% of it’s responses (even though there are no linter errors). I mentioned linting in a prompt two days ago, and I think it has taken it to heart!
I suspect it will settle down. Cursor went through a frustrating period for a few days almost exactly a month ago, and I was ready to give up on it, but I have had almost a month of good use of it since then.
I have to remind myself this is cutting-edge technology which is being improved all the time. There are bound to be some issues. I am not expecting stability at all times, and I think $20 is good value for my usage.
Hey,
Thanks for the response! Yea, I’ve been seeing people say the same thing. Maybe something to do with the new Claude 3.5 model being integrated? I’ve have to take it with strides I guess. I’m still using the free plan with 200 or so request left before I have to pay but, losing hours of coding is frustrating so I don’t know about paying for this quite yet. Maybe once the bugs are ironed out… I’ll have to remember to save version of my code often so I don’t lose so much progress!
ok so maybe it a known issue and hopefully they are working on it
Cursor would do that often, assuming you are an experienced developer until you tell the model to do all changes you will accept and follow. You can find some useful cursor prompts here: Learn Cursor
I’ve been using cursor on the free trial and it’s been absolutely amazing… so when it expired I excitedly purchased a pro plan and I feel like someone’s playing a joke on me cmd-k responses have ranged from “you should probably learn more about css”, to “i’m sorry i’m not going to write code for you”. To add insult to injury the responses are unselectable so even when it does offer a code suggestion it forces me to type it out by hand! Any insight / help greatly appreciated.
I have also seen very lazy behaviour in the last 48 hours implementing API calls that it knew and had been doing well for me in recent weeks. It declared it did not have any knowledge of these API’s so I should go off and learn them myself.
This was in a brand new project with no history stored in the composer conversation and switching between 3.5 and the updated 3.5 model.
A quick rebuttal of yes you do know them, we were only working with them yesterday and it changed tact to offering code again.
