Constant failures "Connection failed"

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

None of the models are working. 30+minutes and no status report.

Connection failed. If the problem persists, please check your internet connection or VPN
Network disconnected [unknown]

It’s not my connection, I’ve tested a second wifi network and hotspot, same issue.

No report of incident on status page.

So unreliable it’s starting to get to the point where I can’t trust that your systems will be online and operational.

Steps to Reproduce

Use cursor

Expected Behavior

The models respond instead of immediately failing

Same, and I’m getting charged for each retry.

Same, cannot connect! My goodness this ■■■■■ I have a project due tomorrow too, of course. I hope Cursor does something to make their lack of sufficient disaster recovery system.

I’m having a bit of luck if I switch to HTTP/1.0 in network compatibility mode. But otherwise, yeah, it’s buggy as hell.

Same problem, i spent over 50$ without any results, it just did a couple of grep an mcp calls and then disconnected over and over again and sometimes messed stuff up

I have also been experiencing a high frequency of “Connection Failed” errors. It is not model specific, as far as I can tell, I’ve encountered it with at least four different models. It has been much more frequent the last few days than I can ever recall before.

I have also noticed that some models…maybe all GPT-5, seem to issue failed tool interaction commands. Edits to files that don’t change the file. Edits to files that don’t exist. Constant issuing of commands in the wrong directory (ironically, DESPITE issuing a PWD first to figure out where the heck it is, it STILL issues the commands in the wrong directory). Failed tool invocations. Failed MCP invocations.

This degraded general performance level is starting to hamper my daily work. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

I am also experiencing constant connection errors and failures. I have to wait for the IDE to load, and then it reconnects after about 1 minute. This issue started happening after the latest Mac update to the new OS.

Can you run a Network Diagnostics please?

Go to Cursor Settings > Network and click Run Diagnostics.

Can you also try this please? The HTTP/1.1 fallback setting resolves most of these cases.
Enable HTTP/1.1 fallback in app settings (not Cursor settings): press CMD/CTRL + ,, search for HTTP/2, then enable Disable HTTP/2.

I thought I was the only one with a problem

hi everyone, we had a temporary outage around that time but it should be stable now. Please let me know if you still have the same issue now.

Hi! I’m still experiencing the alignment and reconnection issues, and it’s getting quite annoying, honestly.

Hey, this appears to be mostly resolved for me now, lasted about 1.5hours - I can see new posts from 15mins ago though saying it’s still happening for other users so it’s still an active problem

The same problem here on Linux with cursor-1.4.5-x86_64.AppImage regardless of HTTP Compatibilty Mode. What’s interesting, I do not have such problems with cursor-1.1.3-x86_64.AppImage: No endless DNS/SSL spinning wheels.

lsb_release -a
LSB Version: n/a
Distributor ID: ManjaroLinux
Description: Manjaro Linux
Release: 25.0.6
Codename: Zetar

Could you try another DNS server like 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1?

Is there any way to make this fixed I have still problem

hi @Mosunny it is not an issue on our side so we may need more info what is causing it on your side.
