Describe the Bug

Whatever update has just happened stops the agent in the middle of code edits to say the conversation has got too long. This is not a good update. I have to start a new conversation and re-explain what it needs to do multiple times.

Steps to Reproduce

Try asking it to create a test js file. When it’s fixing the errors it says the conversation has got too long and tells you to start a new conversation for a summary. This bit doesn’t work properly and the agent doesn’t even use the previous conversation as context.

Expected Behavior

Agent gets to the end of a code edit before stopping work to tell you the conversation is too long.

This often happens to me after the recent update, and it keeps disrupting my work. It’s very annoying.

A ton of people having this issue, team said they are looking into it. Even happens after deleting all chats, restart etc.

Same here. I encountered this error after updating.

Everyone is encountering this.. no reason to limit without a way to change the setting. Why force this? To get more tokens? What is going on here Cursor.. Will be moving to Windsurf if this does not get changed back.

I wish it would finish what file it was working on before cutting you off, then asking you to make a new convo.
