Could not switch repository in background agent

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Background Agent (GitHub, Slack, Web, Linear)

Describe the Bug

When creating new background agent from web interface - no longer able to select repository - repository box is visible but disabled. Github permissions set to grant multiple repositories.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Go to Cursor - The AI Code Editor
  2. Try select different repository (default is preselected) - could not pick

Expected Behavior

Can select any repository which Cursor is granted in github

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

Web interface, version not relevant

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Yes I am having the same problem, this currently blocks me from working. Reconnecting github integration does not work either. I am using the web ui and the dropdown is disabled.

Can confirm. The iOS app has the same issue.

Brave, Safari on MacOS too.

I have the same issue, looking into the network traces I can see a call to:

https://cursor.com/api/dashboard/get-github-installations

which returns a valid list of the repositories cursor has access to. So there doesn’t seem to be errors in the calls to the backend.
The “select repository” dropdown is disabled, for me not even a default repository is selected.

In Cursor Background Agent settings ( Cursor - The AI Code Editor ) in the settings for the default repository, the same dropdown field is disabled as well.

Am I missing something here? The “Select repository” is greyed out and can’t be clicked… (yes I’m logged in).

same problem. I setup github only for select repos.. It seems to work within the ide though.

As a temporary solution, you can create a new issue in GitHub on the branch and repository you’re currently using. In the issue’s comment section, use the @cursor mention along with a clear description of the task. For example: @cursor fix the bug with the login form. or @cursor please implement the user profile feature as described in this issue.The agent will then begin processing the request.

I also have this issue. I fixed it once by revoking all connections between Github and Cursor, but now the issue came back again. Very annoying one, and needs to be addressed soon as possible.
