Describe the Bug

Background agents: “Only GitHub repositories are supported at this time”

Steps to Reproduce

I go to settings > background agents, and link Github. It goes well, and I get the “manage” button. In the “Personal Configuration” section, it shows that Github Access is “Verified”.

This gives me the impression that Github is connected correctly.

However, when I go to the new chat window, and select “Background”, I get the error:

Only GitHub repositories are supported at this time.
Connection failed. If the problem persists, please check your internet connection or VPN
Only GitHub repositories are supported at this time.

Expected Behavior

I expect the background agent request to start correctly.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

hi @cannibal_kush could you please check if you perhaps have other remotes than GitHub?

Hey @condor , just one remote. However, I just realised that my remote is “git@github-personal/repository-name.git”

It’s an alias I set up so that I can use different ssh keys for each alias. Is that the issue here? If so, is there some way for me to tell cursor that “github-personal” is in fact Github?

I believe this is in fact the root of the problem, thanks for the quick response.

Yes you may need to rename it to full github.com
