Cursor AI Blocked Due to "Suspicious Activity"

Describe the Bug

When I try to send any message to the AI assistant in Cursor, I receive an error: “Unauthorized request. Your request has been blocked as our system has detected suspicious activity from your account”. Cursor’s AI features are completely non-functional.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open any project in Cursor.
  2. Attempt to ask a question in the chat or use any AI feature (e.g., “Edit with Chat”).
  3. The error message appears immediately.

Expected Behavior

AI features should work consistently, allowing me to ask questions and receive answers as it worked before.

For AI issues: which model did you use?

Any model (Claude, GPT, Composer 1) — the error occurs with all of them.

For AI issues: add Request ID with privacy disabled

Additional Information

The error occurs constantly and makes the core functionality of Cursor unavailable. I am not using a VPN or engaging in any suspicious activity.

  • Fully restart Cursor (quit completely and reopen)
  • Turn off VPN (if it’s active)
  • Verify your Mac’s date/time (System Settings > General > Date & Time)
  • Sign out and back in (Cursor Settings)
  • Run network diagnostics: Cursor Settings > Network > Run Diagnostics

  • Console errors (Help > Toggle Developer Tools > Console tab — screenshot any red errors)
