Cursor AI New Window: Text Input Issues (Quoting @/L and General Typing)

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

In Cursor, you can open the AI chat in a separate (new) window. However, in the new window, text input is unreliable.
When I try to quote lines—either by using the line quote command (L) or by typing @ and selecting a target—text input often stops working, or the typed characters appear in the wrong order (jumbled/out of sequence).
This issue also happens even without quoting: sometimes normal typing does not work, or the input order becomes inconsistent.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open the AI Agent view in a panel (e.g., “Open AI Agent in Panel”).
  2. From that panel, choose Open in New Window.
  3. The AI Agent view is now displayed in a separate window.
  4. Try typing a prompt in the input box.

Observe that text input shows various issues (e.g., typing sometimes doesn’t work, or characters appear out of order).

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. The option to open the chat in a separate window isn’t fully supported yet, so you might run into issues like this when typing.

Try reloading the separate window, it should help for now. As an alternative, use the chat in the main panel instead of the separate window.
