Hi Cursor team,
I encountered an issue while trying to update Cursor to version 0.46. The auto-update process failed with an “os error 5” (access denied) error when renaming the tools
folder. Additionally, I noticed that the official download page has not been updated with version 0.46, making it impossible to manually update.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Cursor automatically starts updating to version 0.46.
- The update process fails with the following error message:
- “There was an error while renaming ‘tools’: Access Denied (os error 5)”
- It suggests checking if any Cursor processes are still running.
- The official download link still provides an older version, preventing manual installation.
System Information:
- OS: Windows 11 lastst
- Cursor Version: Trying to update to 0.46
Impact:
This issue prevents me from using Cursor properly, as the failed auto-update disrupts my workflow. Since the official download page is not updated, I cannot install the latest version manually either.
Request:
- Please fix the auto-update process to prevent permission errors.
- Update the official download link to include version 0.46 so that users can manually download and install it if needed.
I’ve attached a screenshot of the error message for reference. Looking forward to your response and a solution. Thanks!
