Cursor changes selected model preferences after update

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

When updating cursor changes my model preferences.
I was using composer 2, non fast.
When I updated it, it selected composer 2 fast.
If this would be a one time occurrence, I would not complain. But this happened like a couple of times.
Please respect my choices! I do not have unlimited budget/tokens.

Steps to Reproduce

Update cursor to the most recent version

Expected Behavior

It keeps the model with preferences I selected.

Operating System

MacOS

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. This is a known issue, model preferences sometimes reset after updates. The team is aware, there have been a few fixes already, but the bug can still come back from time to time.

Similar reports from other users: Model reverts to composer-2-fast on each new chat.

For now, the only workaround is to manually check the selected model after each update. I know it gets in the way, especially given the cost difference between Composer 2 and Composer 2 Fast.

I’ve added your report for prioritization. Let me know if there’s anything else.
