This is happening to my installation for a long time (since 0.45 for sure, but actually earlier)

Happens for any file that is opened, doesn’t matter.

Usually I work on different monitors by moving Chat tab to a different monitor, and working in such way. The issue doesn’t happen in such configuration.
But when I accidentally click on some file in the Chat in that separate window, the file opens in that window, and switching back to Chat tab auto-switches the conversation.

I tried to delete that conversation, it did not help: it is magically still there to pop up again.

Well, it is. It’s annoying as ■■■■ as I cannot click on any file link in the Chat window without having extra clicks to have the needed chat back again.
Also there is another issue for getting the different chat opened which collides with this issue, I will open another thread later and link here.

The reproduction steps are actually simpler, I accidentally found more specific trigger for this issue.

Just a single-click on the “Chat” tab triggers this behavior.

Hey, thanks for the report. It seems this issue is resolved in version 0.48.

I had to switch to “Early Access” update channel to grab 0.48.2

I can confirm this issue is fixed in 0.48.2

Thanks!
