Cursor crashes on opening a specific repo due to Chat window – reset per-repo?

After the latest Cursor (1.0.0) update, one of my repositories crashes immediately when I open it. It seems to crash while trying to load the Chat window. This particular repo hasn’t been opened in about 6 months with cursor. Loading with vscode works fine.

Other projects open fine, so the issue appears to be isolated to this one repo.

I’m on macOS, and when the “The window is not responding” modal appears, checking “Don’t Restore Editors” doesn’t seem to help — Cursor still tries to load the problematic project on session restore, leading to repeated crashes.

Is there a way to reset Cursor’s workspace settings or Chat history for a single repo without affecting global settings or other projects?

Hey, yes you can rename the project folder, open it in Cursor and the Chat history will be cleared as its not connected anymore to the old chat storage. It wont affect other projects.

This can happen when too large or too many chats are loaded as it slows down the display.
