Cursor Editor Fails to Open

Overview

Cursor becomes unresponsive when loading specific code repositories. Specifically, it appears to get stuck in Fetching: Querying project metadata while loading the chat. MacOS then triggers a pop-up window that the window is unresponsive after ~10s.

This stops me from using Cursor on specific code repositories.

On repositories where it does not attempt to load the chat, I am able to open Cursor.

Is there a configuration to not load the chat for a repository by default?

Notes

  • I deleted & re-installed Cursor and the issue persists.
  • There’s no .cursor or .vscode config.

Re-cloning the repository (which was a few months old) and opening the new repo from the new clone fixed the issue.

I have not opened the repository in a few months, is it possible that the chat that was linked is no longer accessible which causes an issue when fetching the chat on startup?

Hey, I think the problem was with the chat history. Since you cloned the repository again, starting everything anew, I believe that resolved the issue. If you encounter a similar error in the future, try clearing the chat history.
