Cursor has become so expensive, each prompt is like $1

It is insane how expensive cursor has become using the claude-4-sonet now is like $1 per prompt and considering how these models are that even after giving very clear and specific instructions you end up following and fighting it to follow them to fix issues so you are very sure to prompt like 2x to 3x of the number of prompts that you need to fix issues because many of the prompts is to tell it to follow your instructions or revert senseless changes you never requested

Am I the only one here or how do others see how much prompting costs now

I have the cursor Pro plan and now that thing gets used up in few days before i used to have the thing for the full month of same usage as now

how did cursor get more expensive like 4x really more expensive???

i feel cursor has the best strategy to use existing vscode as others fail to do this and that is why cursor will and forever still be used by lots of people despite this annoying cost greed
claude code, google cli and add anything there fail to realize this and they will all figure out why later because using vscode is the one single best decision cursor did else most devs would have left them including myself because of this cost thing

wonder why everyone shouting claude code still have cursor running and claim claud code is the best, makes you wonder many people’s IQ

please share you thoughts and experience below

thanks

Claude code is solidly better at coding and managing the changes you request. It understands your instructions better, is more reliable with its edits and performance, and is genuinely good at editing code using an AI agent.

Cursor could potentially be great but they have made terrible, wrong decisions at every opportunity for the last few months and people are starting to notice how far behind the other options they are. As for “why do you still use Cursor” - I don’t.

I canceled my subscription and while it’s still installed so I can look at some of the old contexts for notes, I don’t use the AI agent anymore or actually open or edit any code files in it. I guess I’m just holding out to see if they manage to wake up and take their user feedback seriously to stay in the game as a viable, affordable, useful tool instead of just going down the “corporate profit” rabbithole and doing anything to make more money regardless of user experience.

Time will tell. I probably won’t wait that long.

thanks for your take. i never tried claude code yet because my workflow needs the vscode setup and since that is what others are failing to realize i will continue to stick with cursor till i cant anymore

cursor is kind of moving in the wrong direction as they are getting more and more different than vscode itself and that will eventually going to come back to bite them. from just a fork to now almost their own editor now rather than just stick to the original vscode but with minimal changes to get your things to work

either way the moment that get too far away from vscode then they lose that edge and i will gladly find something else

for example now with their new changes, diffs no longer show in chat anymore and now showing in the files themselves but the issue is we cant see what are deleted but only what are added, not sure how they make stupid, sorry i have to say it as it is very relevant, changes like this with nobody objecting to them

@RobDidAThing just curious what plan you have on claude code? asking because seems they pushing so hard for the max plan and it is funny how people complained about cost of cursor but there you have anthropic ready to push in for the $100/month plan

very interesting, how that works
i can just see the whole tactics, even the get started and link in email takes you straight to pay for the max plans that are $100 to $200 per month

if that was the case no one should complain about price to be reason to move away from cursor

just noticed that anyways
