Recently, Cursor has frequently shown the error “Connection failed. If the problem persists, please check your internet connection or VPN.” Clicking “Try again” fails to re-establish the connection. I have tried turning off the VPN and restarting my computer, but the issue remains unresolved. Often, only a few requests to the tool are terminated, yet the usage count is still deducted. Approximately 20% of the requests are wasted in this way, which is completely meaningless.

I found that in claude-3.7-sonnet-thinking, I can almost always use up to 25 tool calls each time, although “Try again” doesn’t work. However, in claude-4-sonnet-thinking, I can usually only make 5 to 8 calls. By the way, I have already disabled http2.
Its a common bug, search the forum and you will see.
Sorry, English is not my native language. I used a translation software.
Before posting, I checked other people’s solutions, including disabling HTTP2, restarting the software, restarting the computer, and turning off the VPN. I have tried all these methods, but none of them worked.
My test results show that if I use Claude 3.7, I can generally use up to 25 tool calls, but I can’t continue and will get a “Connection failed” error. If I keep the current chat session and re-enter the content in the input box, I can probably still use up to 25 tool calls.
However, with Claude 4, I can generally use up to 25 tool calls for the first question in a chat session, but for subsequent questions, I can usually only use 8-10 or even fewer. If I don’t create a new session, the number of tool calls may decrease.
Since this is already a common problem, I hope the Cursor team can solve it as soon as possible.
May i ask what you’re using claude for?
I’m working on developing an xAPI LRS service. Currently, I’m at the stage of writing unit tests. I tried reverting to Claude 3.7, but it keeps creating some temporary patches and still can’t solve the problem.
