Just happened, on windows restart cursor dir is empty
Windows 11
Happened a couple times as well - and sometimes it doesnât delete itself, it just needs to be restarted. Honestly itâs a bit ridiculous. Not necessarily blaming it on Cursor, seems Windows is doing screw things (downloaded Windows 11 updates did some strange things to my UI, and now I get the BSOD every few days or so). Probably windows, Cursorâs awesome, but a patch would be nice

close automatic updates works for me
Iâm facing the same issue with version 0.45.11 on Windows 11 and same error as @dosmond mentioned.
Getting this since today, even after reinstalling it still happens, if i try multiple times, on the odd occasion it works, but keeps happening now
It just happened to me again this morning. It disappears, and I need to reinstall it. Iâm using Windows 11, and this is the fourth time this has happened on my end.
It was happening a few days ago, not happening again for a few days. today it happened 3 times, each time i close the app it uninstall itself. happens in windows and not in mac. your tool is amazing, maybe use it to find out why it keeps doing this?
whops he did it again
Not sure if this fixed it because I turned off these settings, or if enough time had passed for the âwait 15 minutesâ fix to kick in (I think it had been b/w 5-10 minutes) but itâs fixed now. Thanks!
On Friday morning the little update notification appeared which i did not klick. After that cursor was gone after closing it. Multiple Resintstalls did end with the same result. Our IT department said they got a lot of Warnings this day all from cursor.exe. So maybe it has something to do with windows security. I am an Windows 11. Please fix this as soon as possible because I am not able to finish a very important project.
So, my Cursor
removing itself
TWICE
today
Iâve had this happen to me twice. One option for the developers to consider, is that the laptop may be transitioning for âsleep modeâ into power off mode and encounters the upgrade after exit issue mentioned above.
I think the AI may be committing sepuku, however, a coworker said that was preferable to skynet. If you use Cursor/AI to continue resolving this issue, it would be a wierd reason for skynet to occur.
Visually I have Cursor but none of the paths (shortcut, .exe file) open it.
Version: 0.45.15 (user setup)
VSCode Version: 1.96.2

OS: Windows_NT x64 10.0.26100
Cursor was working fine yesterday. Shut down my PC at the end of the day.
Power on today and nothing even opens in task manager when I try to open Cursor. No errors, nothing.
My current solution:
download install file from their website, install and use. Donât restart Cursor if possible. Keep the downloaded install file and place it on desktop. Reinstall each time Cursor does not respond. /s
Today, when I opened my Windows computer, I noticed Cursor was deleted. It is my company computer.
I also asked my colleagues who use Cursor, they also experienced this self-removing Cursor issue. However, he remind me to update cursor in the IDE itself, so he does not experienced any more.
EDIT: Here is how to update Cursor:
This has happened to me like three times, even though I had closed the Cursor application before shutting down Windows. Maybe I shut it down âtoo quicklyâ? Thatâs the only explanation I can think of for this issue.
that word is blocked now lol
