After every system shutdown and restart, the cursor requires a reinstallation. This issue persists consistently and affects usability.
I have the same issue here.
Yesterday, my cursor was reinstalled. Today, i get the same .js issue as a ton of other people.

When running Cursor on **Windows 11** with a project stored in the **Linux envir… onment (WSL)**, an issue occurs during system shutdown. The workflow involves using **Docker Compose** inside WSL while storing Docker data on the **Windows host machine**.
#### Steps to Reproduce
1. Open Cursor within a project located in WSL.
2. Build or run the project using **Docker Compose** inside WSL, with Docker stored on the Windows host.
3. Close everything and attempt to shut down the system.
4. Windows displays a message stating that Cursor is still installing, preventing shutdown.
5. After **forcing the shutdown** and restarting the system, the following message appears:

#### Observed Behavior
- Cursor appears **installed**, with its **icon and folders present**, but **cannot be uninstalled** via **Control Panel** or **Start Menu**.
- Running the Cursor installer again is the **only way** to use it, as it installs over the existing (broken) installation.
*This is my experience; it may vary, but I have noticed this issue since I started using these services.*

Until yesterday, I was using the cursor well.
Today, when I turned on my comput… er and launched the cursor, I got an error like the one in the image, and the cursor wouldn't launch.
Why is this happening?
I've been coding with the cursor in vscode, and I'm very confused.
I would be grateful if you could tell me the cause.
I'm running on Windows 10.(ryzen 5800X, memory 32GB)

Hey, this can sometimes happen if your install gets corrupted, I’d recommend downloading Cursor from cursor.com and reinstall from there.
I’m having the same problem now. Rebooted and it’s just gone. This is SO frustrating.
i think its happening because of the auto-updates it performs after its closed, and restarting your device may corrupt the new install. i believe the devs are working for its fix, but can you confirm if you deleted the desktop shortcut it creates by default by any chance? i noticed that has caused this issue for some people

All shortcuts were not present, but it was not based on my actions. I did shut down Cursor and reboot for other purposes. Just reinstalled 45.11, fingers crossed. This was my first reinstallation, so I was a little nervous that it might lose session data/contexts, but it did pick up where it left off, so I’m pretty happy there. It just took a long while to reinstall.

Yes, over the past three days, I haven’t encountered any reinstallation problems with version 45.11.
