Cursor stopped working in a project

I used Cursor a bit this morning and it was going well. I stopped so I could start working and then came back to the same project after work finished. Nothing. The prompts would just sit and spin. ‘Generating…’. I let this run for a few minutes and nothing. I tried changing the model from Claude to any of the others and still nothing.

I swapped to a different project and bam, it started working. So, I have to assume my workspace somehow became corrupted. I moved the workspace folder from Cursor’s workspace storage and tried a prompt in the original project and it started working. Obviously, this is not ideal. All of that context is gone. Just leaving this here as a marker, I guess. I am frustrated that it happened but, happy it is back up and running.

I’m facing the same issue right now. What is going on?

Such a terribly vague error to work with

This isn’t the same error that i was getting. In fact, i didn’t get an error at all. Just nothing.

Hey, Composer sometimes stops responding. You can simply start a new one by clicking the plus icon or using the shortcut Ctrl + N or Cmd + N in the Composer.

Same issue today. It just stopped responding. Restarting Cursor and new chat doesn’t work.

EDIT: Suddenly started working.

Thankfully, I saved the folder containing the workspace. I restored that folder and added a new composer and that fixed the problem. Thanks a lot.

This happens to me as well after the latest upgrade. At some point the composer will hang, but I just close it out and reopen the project and I’m good again.
