Sure. In order.

Update options. Open Settings Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+,, then in the search bar at the top type Update: Mode. You’ll see a dropdown:

  • default / start checks and updates automatically
  • silentlyApplyOnQuit updates on quit
  • manual only updates manually
  • none fully disables updates

Right next to it, search for Update: Release Track and pick stable or prerelease.

About launching into the Agents Window instead of the IDE. You can set this in Settings > General > Startup > Window Restoration, then choose Last Used Windows. After that, close Cursor while you’re in the IDE window. Next time you open it, it should open the IDE instead of the Agents Window. This is what you meant by based on history, it restores your last session. Also, opening a folder will always open the editor.
