CursorUIViewService always running

Describe the Bug

Why are these Cursor processes are always running?
And no, I didn’t have any *.cursor.com pages open while taking the screenshot.

CursorUIViewService processes are always running.
And https://*.cursor.com on MacOS Sequoia 15.5, and it’s happening since always, I remember. I constantly found Cursor consuming over 10GB of RAM.

It’s unnecessary resource usage, and I’ve never allowed any background processing when the Cursor isn’t running.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Fully quit all Cursor instances
  2. Kill these remaining processes
  3. They will start automatically again without running the Cursor

Expected Behavior

  1. Quit Cursor instances
  2. No remaining background processes related to Cursor (after few seconds)

hi @davib this is unusal, we do not use forum.cursor.com in the Cursor app.

Could you check if you perhaps had this open in some other app?

If it happens in Cursor app, check Help > Open Process Explorer and post here a screenshot.

It looks like CursorUIViewService is an Apple’s system service and isn’t related to Cursor.

Have a look this article https://www.macobserver.com/mac/cursoruiviewservice-lag-fix/
