Yesterday, I indexed several new documentations. According to the “Indexing & Docs” tab in the settings, they appear to have been indexed successfully.
However, when I click on the book icon to view the indexed pages, it just says “Indexing…”. Some of the documentations I added yesterday are working fine, as shown in the attached screenshot, but at some point, this issue started occurring with one of the documentations, and since then, it happens with every new documentation I try to index.
I noticed that manually re-running the indexing operation using the refresh icon sometimes resolves the “Indexing…” message and shows the page as if it was successfully indexed.
However, I believe there’s still a bug—when I ask basic questions about the supposedly indexed page, Cursor can’t provide answers, as if the content wasn’t actually indexed at all.
It seems like the UI updates, but the indexing itself doesn’t really happen in the background.
After several manual refreshes, it eventually indexed the page, but the indexing quality seems significantly worse compared to similar pages I’ve indexed in the past.
As a benchmark, a few months ago I indexed the MIT JOS Lab 3 (Lab 3: User Environments) and it worked flawlessly. Cursor was able to understand the full content and answer questions about any exercise, like “What is being asked in Exercise 1?”
Today, I tried indexing another MIT JOS lab - Lab 6 (Lab 6: Network Driver), and it failed to answer what is required in Exercise 1 or in any other exercise except for Exercise 2. It seems like the indexing is incomplete or inaccurate.
This makes it hard to rely on the feature for documentation-based workflows, even when the UI says the page was indexed.
