Describe the Bug

I put in a prompt that explicitly asked for plan mode, launched it, then switched to another task. When I came back to it, I saw that the agent said that I rejected plan mode (because I didn’t accept fast enough). I did not get a notification.

Steps to Reproduce

Launch a prompt that will trigger plan mode and change OS focus

Expected Behavior

I would prefer to get a notification about the agent asking me to enter plan mode, and I would also prefer for the agent to enter plan mode if I explicitly say “do this in plan mode” or “enter plan mode”

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

I was also very surprised by this, kind of antithetical to doing work in parallel/async (which is the only reasonable way to work with llms imo)

Hi all, Thanks you for the forum post.

Mode-switch approvals currently expire after 15 seconds. If one expires while Cursor is unfocused, Agent is told the switch was rejected even though you never clicked Reject. Explicitly requesting Plan mode still uses this approval flow.

For now, select Plan before submitting your prompt by pressing Shift+Tab. Alternatively, search Cursor Settings for Auto-Approve Mode Transitions. This applies to all mode changes. System Notifications can alert you while Cursor is unfocused, but they do not extend the timeout.
