"Enable composer agent stickiness" does nothing

Running Cursor Version: 0.43.5
Under Cursor Preferences > Features > Chat & Composer, I have enabled “Enable composer agent stickiness”.

Each time, when pressing Cmd + N to invoke a new composer or pressing the “+” button, it consistently switches any new composers back to “normal” mode. Seems to happen regardless of whether I’ve actually used “agent” mode before, or just selecting “agent” and then starting a new composer session.

Not sure if I’m misunderstanding how that’s supposed to work but thinking this is a bug?

Hey, I can’t seem to reproduce that on my end.

Try this for me:

  • Open the Cursor settings, but keep the composer visible on the right
  • Disable the setting, click the + and confirm the option is set to “Normal”
  • Enable the setting, click the + again and confirm either that it has, or hasn’t changed

It may be slightly too subtle to know which option is selected in the UI, but if it’s definitely not changing, there probably is a bug going on somewhere.

Happened to me as well. The option was on in settings But clicking plus results in normal composer and not agent
