Provide a clear description of the bug

• Using Composer (Now named Chat) in Agent mode, a CLI TOOL call (mv file) failed. (sadly the exact message was hidden/removed by the IDE, but it started with “Tool call ended…” even it worked.)
• After manually verifying the files were moved the AI was instructed to continue with the task.
• It is stuck on “Generating”.

Explain how to reproduce the bug (if known)

• Steps above are listed. This happens also in new chat after 3 short messages.
• Switching the model e.g. to gpt-4o or others non Anthropic, does not help.

Attach screenshots or recordings (e.g., .jpg, .png, .mp4).

Its a deal breaker. using Agent does not work.

cursor is stuck on generating endlessly post update for me. Its still able to create new python scripts and read scripts but I have a lengthy python script I created with cursor 3.5 pre update and it cannot create the changes I am asking of it. I’ve tried 3.5, 3.7 and 3.7 thinking.

I am also experiencing this issue.

• Switching model does not help.

• Starting a new chat helps temporarily, as in - Chat starts to answer my question then after 5 seconds or so i get the endless “generating…” loop.

is it showing a notification like has a typescript and other notification like that?

If yes you need to delete your settings.json for you to be able to solve it
