Feature Request: Chrome-like tab grouping with colors and drag-and-drop for the Chat/Sidechat panel

Describe the request

Hello Cursor Team,I would love to suggest a quality-of-life feature for the Chat / Sidechat panel to help manage multiple active conversations and context threads more efficiently. It would be incredibly helpful to have a tab grouping system similar to Google Chrome’s group mapping tabs.Key Features Proposed:Color-Coded Grouping: The ability to group related chats together and assign a specific color/label to that group (e.g., “Debugging”, “Refactoring”, “Feature A”).Drag-and-Drop Organization: Being able to easily drag and drop chat tabs into, out of, or between different color groups.Collapsible Groups: The ability to collapse or expand a color group to keep the sidebar clean when managing dozens of historical or active chats. As projects grow, we often jump between different files and distinct problems. Keeping the AI context organized by visual, color-coded categories would vastly improve the workflow.

Describe the request

I usually have multiple agent sessions/tabs open. I find myself reordering them in terms of priority, urgency, or other criteria. It’d be great if I could group them, or label them or assign a color.

Hey, thanks for the detailed feature request. Managing dozens of active and past chats is a real pain, and your request makes total sense: named color groups, drag and drop between them, and collapsing.

Chat organization and grouping is a popular topic. Here are a few related threads you should upvote to help raise the signal:

Right now, colored groups in the tab strip are not available. I can’t share an exact timeline, but if there’s an update, I’ll post it here.
