Files suddenly erased using 0.50.0 on Ubuntu

I was working with Grok-3-beta and all of a sudden all the files disappeared from the workspace. .git files also

I saw another post like this a few hours ago and thought nothing of it. I could not find it, but will continue searching.

I am concerned this is going to happen again and now will check-in to GitHub after each working change. Lost everything from my last check-in to GitHub.

I see from your screenshots that a shell script was run. Can it be that the AI edited that shell script? (example, if it tried to delete a file and couldnt, it may have used creative methods to do that regardless, some people reported such a case).

I’d love to look back at the chat, but that has disappeared too. I don’t see a log file and there was no way to export the chat when it happened; except by doing each prompt and response individually. Security and privacy can go too far.

Yes, thats bad. I use the SpecStory extension to automatically export all chats.

However in case the whole project gets deleted that would too be affected.

I guess there’s a history of the chats somewhere outside of the project directory in cursor you can access

This is not about the chat but about all project files.

I would like to have the chats and a program log from /var/logs/ that would help diagnose the problem.
